On Employment, the employers
are required to sign an undertaking to the Government;
The Undertaking stipulates that they will strictly
observe the helper's conditions of stay as well
as the wage level, live-in and accommodation requirements.
If the Employer breaches the undertaking, he/she will be refused
to apply for a Foreign Domestic Helper in the future. If the helper breaches the undertaking, he/she may not be allowed to work in Hong Kong.
An Employer
should take note on the following when the helper
commences work:
| Pay the helper her daily food and traveling allowance
and reimburse the cost for preparing the application
necessary documentations according to the employment
contract. |
| Clearly explain the helper's duties you expect
her/him to perform |
| Fix a date on which the salary to be paid monthly |
| Appoint a rest day for the helper |
| Agree with the helper if you are to provide free
food during her/his employment, otherwise, you
must pay a food allowance every month. |
| You should take out employee's compensation insurance
against the liabilities for helper's injuries
at work. |
| It is not allowed to apply for other employment
contract. |
| It is not allowed to ask the helper to work for
another person other than the employer's name
stated on the Employment Contract or to perform
non-domestic duties. |
| It is not allowed for the helper to reside outside
the employer's residence address, Employer must
provide free accommodation to the helper according
to the "Schedule of Accommodation and Domestic
Duties" of the Employment Contract |
| Must remind the helper not to take up any part
time jobs with any person other than the employer's
name, Otherwise, she will be liable to prosecution,
deport from Hong Kong and not being allowed to
again apply to work in Hong Kong. |
